Permanent makeup (PMU) can be a great option for just about anyone.
It is a great alternative for those who are allergic to traditional
cosmetics, or who have oily skin that causes regular makeup to run or
smear. PMU is beneficial for busy working professionals, parents and
those with shaky hands or motor impairments who want the “made-up look”
without the added time and stress. Permanent Cosmetics have changed the
lives of Alopetia, vitiglio and chemotherapy patients, those scarred by
mastectomies or burns and even patients that have undergone cleft lip
surgery. Here are some of the most widely-requested Permanent Cosmetics
procedures in the industry today:
Eyeliner and Lash Enhancement
There are two types of eyeliner
applications: lash enhancement and traditional eyeliner. These
processes are accomplished by inserting a series of colored implants
into the lashline. Lash enhancement is popular among both men and
women. The procedure consists of a series of single implants between
the lashes. A lash enhancement is subtle, using a color that is
complimentary to the eyelashes. Pigment is applied to every second or
third lash, and is implanted directly into the lash line to create a
thicker, fuller look. If your technician uses a color that is too dark,
your final result will appear as small series of “connect-the-dots” in
the lash line. Using complimentary colors enhances the lashline, making
the eyes of the patient pop.
Traditional eyeliner is applied by introducing a line of implants
thicker and heavier than that of a lash enhancement. The end result of
this procedure is meant to mimic the look of normal eyeliner makeup.
The most popular complimentary colors for eyeliner and lash enhancement
are taupe, brown, dark brown, brown black, black, blue, green or plum.
Eyebrow Hair Simulation
This procedure involves creating the
perfect eyebrows for each client. Whether you have lost your brows
altogether or have spaces and uneven hair distribution, eyebrow hair
simulation creates realistic, 3-dimensional looking brows that act as
the frame of your face. Generally, two to three complimentary colors
are chosen and strategically applied by with needle strokes to create
this look. If you want this procedure, be certain that your Technician
is able to perform eyebrow hair simulation, and not just tattooed
eyebrows. Ask to see photos of previous clients who received this
procedure.
Lipliner and Full Lip Color
There are a variety of ways to
carry out these procedures. As you would imagine, a lipliner
application involves tattooing pigment on the outline of the lips to
simulate traditional cosmetic lipliner. This procedure can be used to
reshape the non-symmetrical lips, to add definition or to make lips
appear fuller. A full lip color application is meant to mimic regular
lipstick; without the mess, smearing or creasing. You should be able to
choose from a matte look or sparkling look that can be enhanced by the
addition of lipgloss or lip balm. A natural color choice is
recommended, as trends and fashion constantly change.
Paramedical Procedures
There are a variety of Permanent
Cosmetic procedures that fall under the category of “paramedical
procedures.” They are given this name because the treatments are often
answers to medical conditions and irregularities rather than cosmetic
requests. Generally, it takes a more skilled and experienced Technician
with special training to carry out these procedures.
Areola Repigmentation
Areola Repigmentation is a process that
involves changing or creating a normal and healthy-looking areola. In
some cases, the Technician is even able to create the appearance of a
3-dimensonal nipple if the client does not have one. This procedure has
proved unbelievably beneficial for breast cancer survivors who have
endured mastectomies.
Corrective Pigment Camouflage (CPC)
Corrective Pigment
Camouflage is the method of inserting pigments into the skin to blend
and normalize discoloration. This process can be performed on patients
with Vitiglio, burns or other types of scars, after cleft lip surgery
and a number of other conditions. The results of these procedures are
incredible and can do wonders for appearance and self-esteem.
Scar Relaxation
Scar Relaxation can be done as a procedure
unto itself, or in conjunction with CPC. If done singularly, no pigment
is involved. The technician repeatedly goes over the scarred area with
a needle to loosen the contractured scar tissue and allow for a larger
range of movement for the patient. It is an added result if CPC is
performed over a scar, as the needle is doing double duty –
repigmenting the skin and giving a needling treatment.
Skin and Facial Needling
Skin and Facial Needling is another
procedure that requires no pigment. This treatment is used to plump up
fine lines, acne scars and wrinkles, and has been found to be extremely
effective for those who have undergone the procedure. In this
treatment, the needle is directed through the center of crevices
(wrinkles) or acne scars to draw a light bloodline. As the brain
recognizes trauma to that area, it responds by generating collagen and
directing it to the affected area, plumping it up.
Melanocyte Restoration
Melanocyte Restoration is another
needling procedure. No pigment is used and the skin is repeatedly
pricked with a needle. As a result of the continuous pricking, the
skin’s melanocyte cells are stimulated to produce melanin, which colors
the skin. After a series of treatments, the scar will gain natural
pigmentation and blend in with the rest of the skin.
